Architectural Dreams and One of the Best TED Talks

As TED talks took off, more and more people have shared their stories. And though with the increase in quantity, it no longer has the same impact it used to have when only select topics were being promoted, the amount of information available is impressive. This talk in particular resonated with me greatly. That is because it is about the way we interact with each other and it shows the possible long term impact on our society. And I invite you to watch it before you read any further.

And so, I’ll take the first step. I’ll tell you my dream and my obstacles and I invite you to put your own dreams and obstacles on paper. Whether you share them or not, is up to you. I invite you to become aware of them and have a brand new look on your knowledge, network and its possibilities.

My dream:
•  To be an active part in changing the way we do architecture (in particular residential architecture), and make the standard, architecture focused on well-being.
•  To work with people open on experimenting with their space, in order to find the best options for them and their lives. To extend the architectural project beyond its physical completion and have a continuous feedback source from residents on how the space responds to their needs and if needed, readjust.
•  To work with professionals interested in learning how architecture affects life and how it can be better used to make people thrive.
•  To work with clients open to, and interested in learning more about themselves and not just in getting a pretty design.
•  To find finances and collaborators in developing new types of furniture, facades and not only.

My obstacles (presently):
•  A limited network. And so, I’d like to thank every person that has shared or liked my posts on LinkedIn and Facebook as they have helped me gain a larger exposure and meet new people.
A lack of funds and investors. Projects are in development and so searching for investors will become the next step.
•  A lack of awareness in the relevance of our architectural environment. Thus the desire to write and talk about it.
A limited playground. Digital design and modeling can do so much. And so, daring people with available spaces and funds are of high interest.
